Woman Charged in Murder of 7-Year-Old Chicago Girl

CHICAGO, IL – October 5, 2026 (STL.News) A 48-year-old Chicago woman has been charged with first-degree murder after authorities say a 7-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times in the back while walking along a busy commercial stretch of Chicago’s South Side Saturday morning. Chicago police identified the defendant as Shavon Gayden, 48, who faces one felony count of first-degree murder.
